What learners actually do

1. Draw the water cycle onto the bag before anything happens
2. Add a measured volume of coloured water and seal it
3. Mount bags on a sunny window and record the starting state
4. Observe at fixed intervals over one to three days
5. Match what happened to the drawing they made on day one

You will also need

• A window that gets direct sun for part of the day
• Warm tap water
• About 15 minutes to set up and 10 minutes per observation
